Enclosures: committee Memo
The City issued Request for Qualifications (RFQ) No. 06-06-081 for the provision of professional
architectural and engineering services for a Museum at Virginia Key Beach. The submittals
were evaluated utilizing a two part process to select the most qualified firm.
Proposals were received on the advertised due date, July 17, 2006, from the following seven firms:
1. Arquitectonica
2. BEA international — Huff and Gooden Architects, LLC
3. E. Verner Johnson and Associates, Inc.
4. FreelonlJudson
5. Moody - Nolan Inc.
6. Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects
7. Snohetta
As reflected in the attached memorandum from the chairperson of the Evaluation Committee
("Committee"), the Committee met on August 11, 2006 to review all of the submittals and select a
short-list of the top firms to invite to give presentations. Four firms were invited to give presentations
on September 13, 2006: BEA International — Huff and Gooden Architects, LLC, E. Verner Johnson
and Associates, Inc., Freelon/Judson and Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects.
Immediately following the presentations, the Committee deliberated and ranked the firms as follows:
1. BEA international — Huff and Gooden Architects, LLC
2. FreelonlJudson
3. Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects
The Committee is recommending that the City enter into negotiations with the top ranked firm above.
In the event negotiations fail with the top ranked firm, the Committee recommends entering into
negotiations with the 2nd and 3`d ranked firms until an agreement is reached. I have attached a copy
of the Committee's findings for your review. Please sign below if you approve of these findings.
Thank you.
