HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0582City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0582 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-01676 Final Action Date: 10/12/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH BROWARD COUNTY, ON BEHALF OF THE BROWARD SHERIFFS OFFICE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AND OPERATING A DISASTER RECOVERY SITE, FORA ONE-YEAR PERIOD, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR FIVE (5) ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR PERIODS. WHEREAS, Broward County ("Broward"), on behalf of the Broward Sheriffs Office ("BSO") and the City of Miami ("City") have agreed to cooperate in good faith to establish and operate a Disaster Recovery Site; and WHEREAS, the purpose of this interlocal agreement with BSO is to provide at a minimum cost a mutual support Disaster Recovery program to benefit the City and BSO; and WHEREAS, the City's site will be located at the Miami Police Department, 5th Floor, Computer Room, 400 Northwest 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, Broward's site will be located at the Broward Sheriffs Office, 2601 West Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and WHEREAS, each entity will place Information Technology ("IT") hardware (servers, SANs, tape libraries, networking equipment, etc.) at the Production IT facilities of the other agency; and WHEREAS, neither agency will charge a fee for hosting the equipment; and WHEREAS, the establishment of a backup recovery infrastructure at the proposed BSO site would allow the City to enhance its disaster recovery preparedness by establishing a secondary, hardened recovery facility 22 miles from its primary facility, reduce recovery time associated with IT Infrastructure from days to hours, and cost effectively leverage existing IT development/staging infrastructure to establish a secondary operational site without incurring the costs associated with a similar commercial site; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute an Interlocal Agreement, in City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 06-01676 (Version: 1) Printed On: 2/22/2017 File Number: 06-01676 Enactment Number: R-06-0582 substantially the attached form, with Broward, on behalf of BSO, for the purpose of establishing and operating a Disaster Recovery Site, for one-year, with the option to renew for five (5) one-year periods. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
