HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution DI.1 File Number: 06-01710 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH THE GENERAL CONSULATE OF VENEZUELA, FOR USE OF THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM, FOR THE NATIONAL REFERENDUM OF VENEZUELA TO BE HELD DECEMBER 3, 2006. FURTHER PROVIDING FOR A WAIVER OF THE USE FEE ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH USE, INCLUDING IN -KIND COSTS FOR POLICE SERVICES. WHEREAS, the City of Miami agreed two years ago to allow the General Consulate of Venezuela to utilize the Coconut Grove Expo Center for the 2004 National Referendum for Venezuela, at no cost; and WHEREAS, the General Consulate of Venezuela has requested a waiver of fees for the use of the Orange Bowl Stadium on December 3rd 2006 for their 2006 National Referendum, and WHEREAS, the City of Miami and the General Consulate of Venezuela would like to enter into a Use Agreement for the use of the Orange Bowl Stadium; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section I. The recitals herein are true and correct and are hereby incorporated into and made a part of this Agreement. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized I to execute a Use Agreement, in substantially the attached form, with the General Consulate of Venezuela, for the use of the Orange Bowl Stadium, for the purpose of hosting the 2006 National Referendum and providing for a waiver of the use fee associated with such use. Additionally, the City shall provide in -kind Police services for the event. All other costs associated with the event shall be paid by the General Consulate of Venezuela. Section 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature by the Mayor.
