As a Miami resident, I vehemently oppose LED billboards of any size in my city - but
monstrously huge billboards are an affront for the Miami that aspires to be a world -class city. I
just came back from Paris; such a proposal would be unthinkable there. Why? Because quality
of life matters, views matter, nature matters, elimination of light pollution matters, resident's
interests matter . Instead we are seeing the influence of billboard company's profits supersede
the interests of the community. I attended a HEP Board meeting where the LED billboards
were being discussed. One of the board members opined that these billboards in parks were
helpful information providers. This obviously was someone who does not use parks. Park users
value the venues for closeness to nature, quietness, bird song, the solitude of a good workout
and fresh air. LED billboards flashing would be so out of place. Frankly, if park users want
information, that is what cell phones are for - and we have a choice to use them when and if
needed. LED billboards should NEVER be in parks or on a beach. Places were Miami residents
go to get away from the intrusion of the digital world. Please say say NO to GIANT LED
Billboards on Miami Public Land. If Miami aspires to be a world class city, it deserves to be
free of gross, unwanted and intrusive billboards of all kinds, but especially gigantic LED
billboards.
As a member of the Buena Vista East Historic Neighborhood Association (BVEHNA) and a
Long-time resident of this neighborhood, I am opposed to the request for the SAP and any
zoning changes for the Design Place/Eastside Ridge area.
