HomeMy WebLinkAboutMemoCITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO : FROM Mary Conway Chief of Operat Ga fa ant A istant Director Capital Improvements DATE SUBJECT: REFERENCES ENCLOSURES S/] 7/2006 Continuation of Services Gannett Fleming FILE : -Gannett Fleming, Inc. has previously been engaged to prepare a Basis of Design Report (BODR) for the Civic Center Implementation fan. The BODR will consist of a report and conceptual drawings with recommended streetscape improvements, way -finding signage, gateway monuments, and other transportation and transit enhancements for the 'Civic Center/Health District area that will serve to improve safety, address mobility needs and create a community where people can work, live, and recreate. The BODR will also include a shuttle/circulator study with a preferred alignment route that is physically and operationally viable and a detailed financial plan, including anticipated capital, operating and maintenance costs and potential grant programs and funding opportunities at the state and local levels that the City can pursue for the implementation of the proposed circulator project. The reconvnendations in the report will be prioritized on a needs basis to enable the City to subsequently advance the projects to a final design phase. The additional services will ,consist of work -associated with trensitioning from a conceptual BODR to a feasible implementation plan/strategy that will enable the City and the Miami Partnership to jointly move forward in a consensus environment with the recomnendedl irprovernents. The I3ODR and the Civic Center Implementation Plan will be prepared in accordance with the Miami Partnership's goals and objectives for the Health District as well as with the guiding principles and regulations of MIAMI 21. Gannett Fleming has been previously engaged by Duany Plater Zyberk under contract by the planning Department to prepare the Transportation Element of the MIAMI 21 project. Additional services are being requested in association with the transportation component for the current es well as future quadrants of the MIAMI 21 project. The additional services will consist of the development of travel.demand management (TDM) strategies, parking requirements, access management guidelines,collecting information on future transportation projects and corridors, additional public outreach and internal and intergovernmental coordination meetings, and guidance and training with regards to transitioning to the new MIAMI 21 zoning code from the standpoint of trarasport.ation and mobility needs.
