Emergency Purchase Order
for Leasing of 24 X 60 Modui r
Trailers for Temporary Fire Stations
The Department of Fire -Rescue respectfully requests an emergency purchase order for the leasing
of two (2) 24 X 60 modular trailers for temporary fire stations from GE Capital Modular Space, a
Miami-Dade::'ion-Minority vendor located at 5000 N.W. 72'1 .Avenue, Florida, 33166,
fora period of thirty-six (36) months, ire an amount not -to exceed S64,713.00 for each trailer,at
t0t21 proposed amount of S 127,426.00.
The Fire -Rescue Depanment has a critical reed to lease two (2) 24 X 60 modular trailers to
temporarily house fire rescue personnel assi g-ed to Rescues 13 and 14 for appro\::. ately 36
months on a 24 hour bass. They will be stationed at 1SS \.E.12 Terrace ,(City owned parking
lot), and at 2111 S.W. 19 Street (Shenandoah Park). These modular trailers ere necessary during
the construction of the two (2) new stations.' On January 2 , 2002, the -City-Commission
approved Ordinance No. 1212S, .as amended, to iren--edi.ately deploy two (2) addition -al rescue
units in t hie Fire -Rescue Department in order to improve the emergency response tirre in certain
critical areas. As a result. two (2) new fire stations are needed -to house the additional -fire
personnel and equipment necessary for patient care. in an •effort to address this need, the
Department of Fire -Rescue relocated three (3) fire rescue personnel per shaft (A. B, and Cyto
Rescue 13, which 1s temporarily located -at Fire Station No. 9, 69 N.E. 62 Street, -and Rescue 14,
located at Shenandoah Park Building. 211 l'S,W. 19 Street on a 24 hour basis. it is imperative
that -Rescues 13 -and .14 are housed within their first -alarm territory to better serve their
communities.
'Since February 2002, the Fire -Rescue Department has been working with the Asset Marsagernertt
Department in an effort to identify property for sale in the appropriateterritory,,anc1 then haveien
architect design the new stations. T:h-erefore. it is imperativ-e°that we lease the requested modular
trailers to continue providing adequate levels of fire -rescue service to the citizens - and visitors of
the City of Ivliami.
The Department of Fire -Rescue has evaluated the informal bids received and determined the
' ow•est responsible and responsive bid, in the arriount of 'S 129;426.00, pis fro3rn 'GE Capital
Modular'Space. Funds are avai4able for this purchase from the Capital improYement Project No.
313306.239307.6.S30,as funded •byit +e Homeland Defense/Neighborhood 4mprove•r t Bonds.
