HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, f.L 33133 www.miarnigov=m File Number: 06-01446 Final Action pate: A RESOLUTION Of THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH AIDS ("HOPWA'') FUNDS, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $45,000, AS SPECIFIED IN "EXHIBIT A," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000, TO CENTER OF INFORMATION AND ORIENTATION, INC, TO PROVIDE LONG TERM RENTAL ASSISTANCE ("LTRA") TO AN ADDITIONAL ONE HUNDRED (100) HOPWA PARTICIPANTS, AND THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 TO EMPOWER "U," INC., TO PROVIDE LTRA TO AN ADDITIONAL FIFTY (50) HOPWA PARTICIPANTS,iNCREASING THEIR CURRENT CONTRACTED CASELOADS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGE1R TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT(S), 1N SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM(S), TO THE EXISTING AGREEMENT(S) WITH SAID AGENCIES, FOR SAID PURPOSES. WHEREAS; pursuant to Resolution No. 05-0381, adopted June 9, 2005, the City Commission approved the allocation;-in-the-amount--of$180,000-to-CenterQ.f_lnformati#rtaLtd Orientation, Inc. and T the amount of $270,000 to Empower "U", Inc., to provide long term rental assistance to. Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids ("HOPWA") participants; and WHEREAS, the Administration is requesting the transfer of HOPWA, funds, in the total amount -of $45,000, as specified in "Exhibit A," to Center of Information and Orientation, Inc., in the amount -of 30,000 and to Empower "U", Inc. in the amount of $15,000, amending their current contracted caseloads; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, 'FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of HOPWA funds, in the total amount of $45,000, as specified in 'Exhibit A," attached and incorporated, the allocation of said funds, in the amount of $30,000 to Center of Information and Orientation, Inc., to provide long term rental assistance to an additional one hundred (100) HOPWA participants, and the amount of $15,000 to Empower "U," Inc. to provide long term rental assistance to an additional fifty (50) HOPWA participants, increasing their current contracted caseload, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized (1) to execute Amendment(s), in substantially the attached forms, to the existing Agreement(s) with said agencies, for said purposes. Section 4. FERNANDEZ y,(.,i,» CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} f the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. if the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall becomeeffective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
