BACKGROUND The Bayfront Park Management Trust (Trust) was created to direct, operate, manage and maintain Bayfront and Bicentennial Parks for the purposes of ensuring maximum community utilization and enjoyment. The Trust considered the installation of a children's play area at Bayfront Park as a means to this goal and at its May 22, 2006, board meeting directed the executive director to proceed with the playground project. The Trust reviewed two proposals and at its June 26, 2006, board meeting directed the executive director to negotiate a final proposal with American Park & Play, Inc., pursuant to the City of Miami Purchasing Department's right to use Miami -Dade County Contract No. 4907-1/06 The Trust, at its July 24, 2006, board meeting then authorized the executive director to proceed with the proposal submitted by Park & Play, Inc., and approved the total playground project in an amount not to exceed $260,000.00. The proposed amount payable to American Park & Play, Inc., for the playground equipment, with installation, is $206,323,10. However, the design of the playground will include a play sculpture under separate contract with another firm, hence the $260,000,00 total project cost. Funds are allocated in the 2006-07 BPMT capital Budget under Land Improvements. TFS/jrg
