A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING AN
APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (FDEP) FLORIDA RECREATION
DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (FRDAP), IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $200,000, IN SUPPORT OF IMPROVEMENTS TO THE POOL FACILITY
AT MORNINGSIDE PARK ("PROJECT"); FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT TO AMEND ITS
CURRENT CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PLAN TO INCLUDE THE PROJECT IF
THE GRANT APPLICATION IS SELECTED FOR FUNDING
WHEREAS, the City of Miami wishes to improve the existing pool facility at Morningside Park
("Project"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is in great need of safe and appropriate swimming facilities where
City residents and children can learn to swim; and
WHEREAS, the Project will ensure that the Morningside Park pool facility remains in a fully
operational state and thereby available to residents; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to apply for grant funding from the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection (FDEP) for the project in an amount not to exceed $200,000; and
WHEREAS, FDEP requires that the City's Capital Improvement Plan is amended to include the
Project if the grant application is selected for funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1) to submit an application for grant funding to FDEP
Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program in an amount not to exceed $200,000, for the
Project.
Section 3. The City will amend its current Capital Improvements Plan to include the proposed
project "Morningside Park Pool Improvements."
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
(1) The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
(2) If the Mayor does not sign this Ordinance, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Ordinance, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
