Subject: Contract Approval
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the Honorable Mayor and the City Commission adopt the attached
resolution to approve a contract between the Department of Off -Street Parking and the Miami
Homeless Assistance Program. The Department of Off -Street Parking will engage the services of two
Community Outreach Specialist of the Miami Homeless Assistance Program for a six months period
appropriating $25,000 for such services.
Background Information:
This contract will allow the Miami Homeless Assistance Program to extend services 24 hour to better
engage the homeless community that gather in the City of Miami Parking System city wide but
mainly in Downtown Miami. Last homeless Census showed that 34% of the homeless censed in
Downtown Miami were found in parking lots and this particular population is hard to reach on regular
business hours. This contract will allow the Miami Homeless Assistance Program to continue to
provide services to the city's homeless community and enhance the quality of life within the City of
Miami
