Subject: Establish Special Revenue Fund "FEMA/USAR Grant Award (FY 2006")
Purpose of Item:
Adopt a Resolution to establish a special revenue fund entitled: "FEMA/USAR Grant Award (FY
2006)" and appropriating funds, in the amount of $697,915, consisting of a grant received by the City
from the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA"), to be used by the Department of Fire -
Rescue for the development and maintenance of the National Urban Search and Rescue Response
System Resources.
Background Information:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency "FEMA" has annually awarded a FEMA grant to the
South Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 2, for the continued operation of the City's USAR
Program. This award is the ninth annual grant that our Task Force has been eligible to receive since
FEMA officially recognized the City sponsored program on December 15, 1996. Said grant award for
Fiscal Year 2006 is in the amount of $697,915 beginning April 1, 2006 through July 31, 2007. It is
now appropriate to accept said grant award, establish a special revenue fund, and appropriate the
$697,915 grant award therein for said fiscal year.
