HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0457City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0457 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-01220 Final Action Date: 7/27/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) DIESEL TANDEM TRUCK WITH A ZIM-MIXER, NINE (9) CUBIC YARD CONCRETE MIXING UNIT, FROM COMMERCIAL VEHICLES OF SOUTH FLORIDA, D/B/A FREIGHTLINER OF TAMPA, UTILIZING PINELLAS COUNTY CONTRACT NO. 056-265-B(JL) ITEM 5, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, OPERATIONS DIVISION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $184,797; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT ACCOUNT NO. 352216, B-30156. WHEREAS, Bid Award No. 056-265-B(JL) was issued by Pinellas County for the acquisition Pursuit, Administrative Non -Pursuit, Utility Vehicles, Trucks and Vans, and Other Fleet Equipment, and following an evaluation, a contract was awarded to Commercial Vehicles of South Florida, d/b/a Freightliners of Tampa; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Public Works of the City of Miami ("City") recommended that the City acquire a new mobile concrete mixing truck from Commercial Vehicles of South Florida, d/b/a Freightliners, as a piggyback pursuant to the executed Pinellas County Bid Award No. 056-265-B(JL), and it be approved; and WHEREAS, said purchase is necessary to strengthen and improve the Department of Public Works, Operations Division's level of readiness and effectiveness in providing the repair of sidewalks along the City streets; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Procurement Ordinance, the Chief Procurement Officer has determined that the contract was entered into pursuant to a competitive process in compliance with City laws, policies and procedures; and WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditures, at an estimated cost of $184,797 are available from Capital Improvements Project ("CIP") Account No. 352216, B-30156; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The purchase of one (1) Diesel Tandem Truck with a Zim-Mixer, nine (9) cubic yard concrete mixing unit, from Commercial Vehicles of South Florida, d/b/a Freightliner of Tampa, utilizing Pinellas County Contract No. 056-265-B(JL) Item 5, for the Department of Public Works, Operations Division, in an amount not to exceed $184,797, is authorized, with funds allocated from CIP Account No. 352216, B-30156. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
