Subject: Amendment to Resolution No. 01-1183, Pharmaceuticals
Purpose of Item:
Request to amend Resolution No. 01-1183 to reflect a name change for the vendor to Cardinal Health
103, Inc. and also allow for a change in the annual amount of the contract to allow for expenditures
subject to the availability of funds and budget approval at time of need.
Background Information:
The City of Miami, Department of Fire -Rescue has a need to purchase pharmaceuticals utilized during
rescue alarms. Since November 2001, the department entered into contract with Cardinal
Distribution/Bindely Western Drug Company utilizing State of Florida Contract 268-000-8-2.
However, during the last year, the name of the company changed to Cardinal 103 and there is a need
to change the annual amount of the contract to allow for expenditures subject to the availability of
funds and budget approval at the time of need. Rescue runs have increased in the last year and the
department is preparing for the possibility of the Avian Flu and purchasing all necessary equipment,
drugs, and safety items in advance.
