HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0409City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0409 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-01109 Final Action Date: 7/13/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE PROCUREMENT OF PHARMACEUTICALS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE RESCUE, FROM CARDINAL HEALTH 103, INC., F/K/A CARDINAL SOUTHEAST, INC., UNDER EXISTING STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT NO. 268-000-98-2 RENEWAL CONTRACT #1, ON AN AS -NEEDED CONTRACT BASIS, EFFECTIVE THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2008; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUED UTILIZATION THEREOF BEYOND SEPTEMBER 30, 2008, BASED ON ANY EXTENSIONS AND/OR REPLACEMENT CONTRACTS BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA; ALLOCATING THE CONTRACT ANNUAL AMOUNT FOR EXPENDITURES, FROM THE VARIOUS SOURCES OF FUNDS OF THE USER DEPARTMENT, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND BUDGETARY APPROVAL AT THE TIME OF NEED. WHEREAS, on November 13, 2001, the Miami City Commission adopted Resolution No. 01-1183 to authorize the City of Miami's ("City's") Department of Fire Rescue to utilize State of Florida Contract No. 268-00098-2 with Cardinal Distribution/Bindley Western Drug Company to procure pharmaceuticals on an as -needed contract basis, effective through September 30, 2003 and any extensions thereof, in an annual amount not to exceed $60,000 from Account Code No. 001000.280601.6.714; and WHEREAS, since 2001, the State of Florida has entered into Contract Renewal #1 for State of Florida Contract No. 1 with a different entity of Cardinal Health 103, Inc., f/k/a Cardinal Southeast, Inc.; and WHEREAS, since 2001, the types and cost of pharmaceuticals and the number of rescue runs have both increased and the City's Department of Fire Rescue has experienced needs for pharmaceuticals on an as -needed contract basis in excess of the $60,000 annual amount originally set forth in Resolution No. 01-1183; and WHEREAS, the City's Department of Fire Rescue is in need of the procurement of pharmaceuticals, on an as -needed contract basis, utilizing State of Florida Contract No. 268-000-98-2 Contract Renewal #1, effective through September 30, 2008, and any extensions and/or renewals thereof and to change the contract annual amount to allow for expenditures subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval at the time of need; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The procurement of pharmaceuticals for the Department of Fire -Rescue from Cardinal City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 06-01109 (Version: 11 Printed On: 2/7/2017 File Number: 06-01109 Enactment Number: R-06-0409 Health 103, Inc., f/k/a Cardinal Southeast, Inc., under existing State of Florida Contract No. 268-000- 98-2 Renewal Contract #1, on an as -needed contract basis, effective through September 30, 2008, and the continued utilization of any extensions and/or replacement contracts by the State of Florida, are authorized, with funds allocated from the various sources of funds of the user department, subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval at the time of need. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
