HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miami.fl.us File Number: 06-00973 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006 ENTITLED: "CHILD DAY CARE FOOD PROGRAM" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $72,000, CONSISTING OF ENTITLEMENT FUNDING ON A REIMBURSEMENT BASIS FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE THROUGH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU OF CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAMS CHILD CARE FOOD PROGRAM, FOR THE OPERATION OF A YEAR-ROUND FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM FOR PRE-SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN IN CITY OF MIAMI PARKS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE ENTITLEMENT FUNDING ON A REIMBURSEMENT BASIS, AND TO EXECUTE THE FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006 CONTRACT (S576), IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Department of Parks and Recreation, Day Care Division sponsors a year-round food service program for pre-school aged children which provides nutritional meals as a part of its child day care services programs in City parks; and WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs Child Care Food Program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, provides said entitlement funding on a reimbursement basis to the City to conduct a food service program from October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006 for children up to the age of 18; and WHEREAS, said entitlement funding, payable on a reimbursement basis in the estimated amount of $72,000, is based on year 2004 figures and reimbursement rates for approximately 67,600 meals ($1.27 for each breakfast, $2.32 for each lunch, and $.63 for each afternoon supplement); and WHEREAS, the City has previously submitted the entitlement funding Fiscal Year 2005-2006 Contract (S576) to the State of Florida as required for review; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund for Fiscal Year 2005-2006 is established and resources are appropriated as described herein: FUND TITLE: Child Day Care Food Program RESOURCES: Entitlement Funding Reimbursements from the United States Department of Agriculture City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 6/12/2006 File Number. 06-00973 through the Florida Department of Health, Bureau $72,000 of Child Nutrition Programs, Child Care Food Program 4PPROPRIATION: Operation of a Child Day Care Food Program $72,000 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized(1) to accept the entitlement funding on a reimbursement basis from the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs Child Care Food Program and to execute the Fiscal Year 2005-2006 Contract (5576), in substantially the attached form, for said purpose. Section 4. The expenditure of the entitlement funds is authorized for the operation of the program. Section 5. The authorization shall remain valid and outstanding even if the anticipated entitlement award is reduced or increased. Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVE AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS JORG CITY A OEY NDEZ Footnotes: {1 } The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
