A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "SOUTH FLORIDA HIGH INTENSITY
DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA ("HIDTA") CRIME AND DRUG DEMAND REDUCTION
PROGRAM X" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $45,000,
CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE SOUTH FLORIDA HIDTA
THROUGH THE MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, TO
IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Department of Police will implement strategies to reduce
drug trafficking and related crime in the specific geographic area of Wynwood; and
WHEREAS, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ("HIDTA") Crime and Drug Demand
Reduction Program through the Monroe County Sheriffs Office has approved an award in the amount
of $45,000, to be used to reduce or eliminate factors leading to drug abuse, to nurture and develop
indigenous leadership to assist residents in attaining self sufficiency in "at risk" communities; and
WHEREAS, no matching funds are required from the City as a condition of said grant; and
WHEREAS, any purchases would have to comply with applicable City Code purchasing
requirements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are
appropriated as described herein:
FUND TITLE: South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area
("HIDTA") Crime and Drug Demand Reduction
Program X
RESOURCES: South Florida HIDTA through the Monroe County $45,000
Sheriffs Office
APPROPRIATION: Overtime expenses for the operation
of the South Florida HIDTA Crime and
Drug Demand Reduction Program X

Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, to implement
acceptance of said grant award.
Section 4. The Department of Police is authorized to expend monies from this Special Revenue
Fund for the operation of said program.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and -signature of
the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
