HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www,ci.miami.fl.us File Number: 06-00897 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $41,000, FROM HAITIAN AMERICAN FOUNDATION, INC.; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,000, TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE ARCHDIOCESES OF MIAMI, INC./ NOTRE DAME DAY CARE, TO PROVIDE AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAM SERVICES AND THE AMOUNT OF $20,000, TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE ARCHDIOCESES OF MIAMI, INC./ LITTLE HAITI SENIOR CENTER, TO PROVIDE ELDERLY SERVICES AND MEALS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT AND AN AMENDMENT TO THE EXISTING AGREEMENT(S) WITHSAID AGENCIES FOR SAID PURPOSE WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 05-0383, adopted June 9, 2005, the City Commission allocated the amount of $41,000, to Haitian American Foundation, Inc. {"HAFT") to provide services to the elderly; and WHEREAS, pursuant to said Resolution, the City Commission also allocated the amount of $10,000, to Catholic Charities of the Archdioceses of Miami, Inc./Notre Dame Day Care for after school care at the center located at 130 Northeast 62nd Street, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of the Archdioceses of Miami, inc./Notre Dame Day Care has requested additional funding to provide after school and summer program services to low/moderate income children in the Little Haiti area; and WHEREAS, the Administration is recommending funding in the amount of $21 ,000, to said agency to provide said services; and WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of the Archdioceses of Miami, Inc./Little Haiti Senior Center has agreed to assist those clients, previously assigned to HAFI; and WHEREAS, the Administration is recommending funding in the amount of $20,000, to said agency to provide elderly services and meals to low/moderate income individuals; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of Community Development Block Grant Program funds, in the amount of $41,000, from HAFI and the allocation of said funds in the amount of $21,•000, to Catholic Charities of the Archdioceses of Miami, Inc./Notre Dame Day Care, to,provide after school and -summer -program City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 5/22/2006 File Number. 06-00897 services and the amount of $20,000, to Catholic Charities of the Archdioceses of Miami, Inc,/Lithe Haiti Senior Center, to provide -elderly services and meals, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is {1} authorized to execute an Agreement and an Amendment to the existing Agreement(s) with said agencies for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS" JORGE CITY A F NANDEZ \52R EY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that maybe imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
