HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0368City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0368 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-00896 Final Action Date: 6/8/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $247,500, FOR THE ELDERLY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, Judiciary, District of Columbia, and Independent Agencies Act of 2006 ("Act"), was signed providing the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("U.S. HUD") with Economic Development Initiative ("EDI") funds for certain projects specified in the Conference Report accompanying the Act; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Elderly Assistance Program was specified in the Congressional Record of November 18, 2005 to receive grant funding; and WHEREAS, said funds may be utilized for acquisition, planning, design, purchase of equipment, revitalization, redevelopment or construction; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A grant from the U.S. HUD EDI funds, in the amount of $247,500, for the Elderly Assistance Program, is accepted. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents, to implement acceptance of said grant. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 06-00896 (Version: 11 Printed On: 2/2/2017 File Number: 06-00896 Enactment Number: R-06-0368 {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
