HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0356City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0356 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-01040 Final Action Date: 6/8/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS ("RFP"), FOR A UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ("UDP"), FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI OWNED PROPERTY COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE MELREESE GOLF COURSE, APPROVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 06-0219, ADOPTED APRIL 6, 2006, TO: (I) CLARIFY THAT THE PROPOSED HOTEL AND OTHER COMMERCIAL FACILITIES MUST BE LOCATED IN THE PORTION OF THE PROPERTY DESCRIBED IN THE RFP AS PARCEL "II," AS DESCRIBED IN "ATTACHMENT 1," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, AND (II) LIMIT THE CITY'S SHARE OF THE COST OF REMEDIATION TO $1,000,000; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE THE RFP, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AS DESCRIBED IN "ATTACHMENT 2," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 06-0219, adopted April 6, 2006, the City Commission authorized the City Manager to issue an Request for Proposals "(RFP"), in substantially the attached form to said Resolution, for a Unified Development Project ("UDP") for the Melreese Golf Course; and WHEREAS, the residents of the area neighboring the Melreese Golf Course have expressed an interest in not having a hotel or other commercial uses located along Northwest 14th Street, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Miami ("City") to limit the City's contribution toward the cost of environmental remediation to $1,000,000; and WHEREAS, the RFP has not yet been issued; and WHEREAS, it is recommend that the RFP be amended to clarify the location of the commercial uses and limit the City's contribution as aforementioned; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An amendment to the RFP, for a UDP, for the Melreese Golf Course, approved by the City Commission pursuant to Resolution No. 06-0219, adopted April 6, 2006, to: (i) clarify that the proposed hotel and other commercial facilities must be located in the portion of the property described in the RFP as Parcel "II," as described in "Attachment 1," attached and incorporated, and (ii) limit the City's share of the cost of remediation to $1,000,000, is authorized. The City Manager is authorized{1} to issue an RFP, in substantially the attached form, as described in "Attachment 2," attached and incorporated. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable provisions of the City Charter and Code. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon the override of the veto by the City Commission.
