HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0355City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0355 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-00969 Final Action Date: 6/8/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPTA GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $242,354.08, FROM THE CHILDREN'S TRUST, TO ESTABLISH THE CITY OF MIAMI-FAMILIES FIRST PARENT ACADEMY DURING THE 2006-2007 SCHOOL YEAR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City") Office of the Mayor has requested funding from the Children's Trust to establish the Miami Youth Council; and WHEREAS, the City -Families First Parent Academy will promote parental involvement and family literacy activities; and WHEREAS, the City -Families First Parent Academy will facilitate a network of parent resources for families with children ages 0 through 5; and WHEREAS, the City -Families First Parent Academy is another example of the strengthened partnership between the City and the Miami -Dade County Public School System and the school system's Parent Academy; and WHEREAS, the City was awarded a grant in the amount of $242, 354.08, pursuant to said request; and WHEREAS, the City must execute an award package, including a Grand Award Agreement, to accept the grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to accept a grant in the amount of $242,354.08, from the Children's Trust, to establish the City -Families First Parent Academy during the 2006-2007 school year. Section 3. The City Manger is authorized{1} to execute the necessary document to implement the acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 06-00969 (Version: 21 Printed On: 2/1/2017 File Number: 06-00969 Enactment Number: R-06-0355 Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
