Subject: Approval of Contract to Provide Bus Transportation Services.
Purpose of Item:
Authorizing an award of a contract to Al Transportation, Inc., a Hispanic/Miami-Dade County
vendor, located at 15151 NW 33 Place, Miami, FL 33054, for the provision of bus transportation
services on an as needed contract basis for two (2) years with the option to extend for two (2)
additional one (1) year periods. Allocating funds from the various sources of funds from the user
departments and agencies, authorizing said purchases as needed, subject to availability of funds and
budget approval at time of need.
Background Information:
Bus transportation services will be utilized for year-round recreation activities and programs put
together by the Parks and Recreation Department, and other City departments and agencies, as
needed. On March 24, 2006 the Purchasing Department issued an Invitation for Bids (IFB No. 05-06-
046). As required by the Procurement Code, the IFB was advertised, and fifteen (15) potential bidders
were notified of the bid document on-line. Bids were due and only one bid was received by the City
Clerk on April 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. AIA Transportation, Inc., submitted the only responsive and
responsible bid and is therefore recommended for award.
