FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL AMERICORPS VOLUNTEERS IN SERVICE TO AMERICA ("VISTA") MEMBERS AND THEIR TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES AND OTHER EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID VISTA MEMBERS WORK ON THE CITY OF MIAMI'S POVERTY REDUCTION PROGRAM, PURSUANT RESOLUTION NO. 05-0145, ADOPTED MARCH 10, 2005; APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS TO SPECIAL REVENUE FUND NO. 110146.098002.8.436, ENTITLED "AMERICORPS VOLUNTEERS IN SERVICE TO AMERICA (VISTA);" AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, TO THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Office of Grants Administration ("OGA") has received funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service ("Corporation") to support a program that places service corps in the City of Miami's ("City's") five commission districts to provide capacity -building for organizations through grant writing, volunteer management and providing linkages to City financial literacy programs; and WHEREAS, the City received an allotment of two AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America ("VISTA") Summer Associates to work on workforce development and healthy marriage initiatives in the City; and WHEREAS, funds were requested to help offset the costs of transportation and other program expenses for the entire VISTA program; and WHEREAS, the City was awarded a grant equivalent to the amount of $5,500 pursuant to this request; and WHEREAS, the Corporation has moved to the Health and Human Services Payment Management System for the disbursement of funds to grantees; and WHEREAS, Special Revenue Fund No. 110146.098002.8.436, entitled "AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA)," is the fund which pertains to the program; and WHEREAS, the City must execute an award package, including an Amendment to the Memorandum of Agreement ("Agreement"), to accept the grant; and WHEREAS, the attached award package, including the Amendment to the Agreement, provides terms and conditions; City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 5/12/2006 File Number: 06-00810 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings found in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to accept and appropriate a grant, in the amount of $5,500, from the Corporation to provide funding for two (2) additional VISTA members and their transportation expenses and other expenses associated with the City's Poverty Reduction Program, pursuant to Resolution No. 05-0145, adopted March 10, 2005, to Special Revenue Fund No. 110146.098002.8.436, entitled "AmeriCorps Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA)." Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute an Amendment, in substantially the attached form, to the Agreement, for said purpose. Section 4.
