The Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee was created to review the street
codesignation requests and to make recommendations to the City Commission to guide the
Commission in its determinations as to whether a street should be codesignated, or a marker or
plaza should be designated. The committee shall forward recommendations in writing to the
Commission at least twice a year, and file copies of same with the City Clerk. The Commission
shall not be bound by any recommendation or advice received from the committee.
All five (5) members' terms will expire on May 5, 2006.
• Chairman Gonzalez has one nomination for a seat currently held by Armando J. Silva -
Trujillo.
• Vice Chairman Winton has one nomination for a seat currently held by Carolyn Cope. Ms.
Cope has been a member since June 13, 1996. Code Sec. 2-885(b) states that no board
member shall serve more than eight consecutive years on any one board. This
requirement may be waived by a unanimous vote of the members of the City
Commission.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for a vacant seat held previously by Manuel
Chamizo.
• Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for a seat currently held by Yves Fortune.
• Commissioner Spence -Jones has one nomination for a seat currently held by Constance
Gilbert.
For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said committee. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the May
11, 2006 Commission agenda.
