Subject to the approval of the City Commission, the Civil Service Board was created to adopt,
amend and enforce a code of rules and regulations which shall have the force and effect of law,
providing for appointment and employment in all positions in the classified service, based on
merit, efficiency, character, and industry; and to make investigations concerning the enforcement
and effect of this article and of the rules adopted; and shall make an annual report to the
Commission.
• The Commission at large has three (3) appointments to make for seats currently held by
Mariano Cruz, Miguel de la 0, and Florene L. Nichols whose terms all expired on January
27, 2006.
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy
of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be placed on the May
11, 2006 Commission agenda. This matter was deferred from the January 12, 2006 and February
9, 2006 Commission meetings.
