Subject: ALLAPATTAH COMMUNITY ACTION, INC.
Purpose of Item:
AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT ("CDBG") PUBLIC
FACILITIES AND IMPROVEMENT FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,000, FROM ALLAPATTAH
COMMUNITY ACTION, INC.; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS, TO ALLPATTAH COMMUNITY ACTION,
INC. TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL MEAL SERVICES TO THE ELDERLY, AMENDING THEIR
CURRENT PUBLIC SERVICE CONTRACT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
AN AMENDMENT TO THE EXISTING AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED
FORM(S), WITH SAID AGENCY FOR SAID PURPOSE.
Background Information:
Pursuant to Resolution No. 03-1245, adopted December 18, 2003, the City Commission approved
the allocation, in the amount of $20,000, to Allapattah Community Action, Inc. for public facilities and
improvements
Said contract was extended twice in order to complete the improvements
Allapattah Community Action, Inc. requested that due to raising construction costs said funds be
transferred to their public service contract
Pursuant to Resolution No. 05-0383, adopted June 9, 2005, the City Commission approved the
allocation, in the amount of $349,200, to Allapattah Community Action, Inc. for public service
activities assisting low to moderate income elderly residents in the City
The Administration is requesting the transfer, in the amount of $20,000, to said agency to provide
additional meal services to the elderly
