HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miami.fl.us File Number: 06-00460 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP DISASTER FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $289,096, FOR DISASTER RELIEF ACTIVITIES PERTAINING TO THE HURRICANE WILMA DISASTER RECOVERY EFFORTS, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT(S), FOR ACCEPTANCE OF SAID FUNDS. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") receives an annual allocation from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership ("SHIP") Program to produce and preserve affordable housing in the City using the Local Housing Assistance Plan; and WHEREAS, each year, an amount of SHIP funds are set aside by the State to address disaster relief; and WHEREAS, in response to the damage from the 2005 hurricane season, specified cities, including the City, have been deemed eligible to receive additional SHIP funding to assist its residents that were affected by Hurricane Wilma; and WHEREAS, the Administration recommends the acceptance of said SHIP funds for disaster relief activities pertaining to the Hurricane Wilma recovery efforts, for Fiscal Year 2005-2006; and WHEREAS, said SHIP funds will be administered by the Department of Community Development; and WHEREAS, utilization of said SHIP disaster funds must adhere to the current housing policies; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of SHIP Disaster funds, in the amount of $289,096, for disaster relief activities pertaining to the Hurricane Wilma Disaster recovery efforts, for Fiscal Year 2005-2006, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1 } to execute the necessary documents, for acceptance of said funds. Section 4. (2) If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
