Corrected Scrivener's Error -Resolution No. 06-0269 adopted
May 11, 2006 (File No. 06-00648)
Resolution No. 06-0269, adopted May 11, 2006, contains a scrivener's in the title
and in Section one. The words "and maintenance" were omitted as part of the contract
language.
The Resolution has been corrected to reflect the addition of maintenance to the
contract.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, BY A FOUR -FIFTHS
(4/5THS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, AFTER AN ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING,
RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING
OF A SOLE SOURCE, PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-92 OF THE CODE OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED; WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR
COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDDING PROCEDURES, AND APPROVING THE
PURCHASE AND MAINTENANCE OF THE OMNITRAK LATENT STATION, FROM
PRINTRAK, A MOTOROLA COMPANY, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $107,641; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE
COVERDELL FORENSIC SCIENCE IMPROVEMENT GRANT, ACCOUNT CODE
NO. 110157.290551.6. 840.
WHEREAS, the Omnitrak Latent Station is designed for latent print input and review of fingerprint
and palmprint search results; and
WHEREAS, by purchasing the Omnitrak Latent Station, the Crime Scene Investigation/Technical
Services Unit will not only reduce the backlog of cases, but will also show great improvement by
increasing the amount of evidence provided for criminal justice purposes; and
WHEREAS, said unit urgently needs this equipment to solve its shortage of limited laboratory
equipment and to make sure its personnel is properly trained and utilizing the most up to date
methods, techniques and technology in the forensic science field; and
WHEREAS, this system allows the City of Miami's Department of Police to interface with
Miami -Dade County and Florida Department of Law Enforcement's fingerprint and criminal databases;
and
WHEREAS, the Chief Procurement Officer has adopted a finding that Printrak, A Motorola
Company, is the sole source provider of the Omnitrak Latent Station; and
WHEREAS, the findings of the Chief Procurement Officer have been approved and adopted as the
findings of the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the
requirements for competitive formal sealed bids be waived and the purchase of the Omnitrak Latent
Station, from Printrak, A Motorola Company, as the sole source be approved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.

Section 2. By a four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote, after an advertised public hearing, the City
Manager's finding of a sole source, is ratified, approved and confirmed, the requirements for
competitive sealed bidding procedures are waived, and the purchase and maintenance of the
Omnitrak Latent Station from Printrak, A Motorola Company, in an amount not to exceed $107,641, for
the Department of Police, is approved, with funds allocated from the Coverdell Forensic Science
Improvement Grant, Account Code No. 110157.290551.6.840.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
