The Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce has produced the Coconut Grove Block Party
for the past seven years on the third Saturday of the month of May (1999, 2000, 2001,
2002, 2003, 2004, 2005) on Commodore Plaza in Coconut Grove. The number of
attendants has been steadily rising from 300 in 1999 to 2,500 in 2005. The participants
have enjoyed an array of multicultural performances in ethnic dance and music. They've
sampled a variety of ethnic cuisines provided by Commodore's nine restaurants and
viewed Latin, European and Asian art exhibitions at Commodore's art galleries. Financial
support for this event includes Miami -Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs; The
City of Miami FACE Special Events & Cultural Grants, fundraising from local
merchants, the Miami Parking Authority, the Coconut Grove Business Improvement
Committee, and volunteer involvement.
The Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce has also produced the Banyan Festival for 15
years and the Great Taste of the Grove (formerly known as the "Taste of the Grove" and
the "Coconut Grove Food and Music Festival") for 16 years.
