Thompson City Clerk Date: March 14, 2006 Subject: Code Enforcement Board References: April 6, 2006 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Three (3) appointments are needed at this time, of which two (2) had terms which expired in February, 2006: • Vice Chairman Winton has one (1) nomination for regular seat currently held by Steven Baird. • Commissioner Spence -Jones has one (1) nomination for regular seat currently held by James Moss, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code (6 absences in 2005). Commissioner Sanchez has an appointment for regular seat wherein Luis Carlos Alvarez was appointed on December 15, 2005. Numerous attempts to contact Mr. Alvarez regarding his appointment have been unsuccessful. For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the April 6, 2006 Commission agenda. These matters were deferred from the November 3, 2005, December 15, 2005, and February 9, 2006 Commission Meetings.
