Thompson City Clerk Date: March 17, 2006 Subject: Equal Opportunity Advisory Board References: April 6, 2006 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to the Department of Human Resources. All fourteen (14) members' terms have expired, with the terms of thirteen (13) members having expired on February 8, 2006: • Chairman Gonzalez has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Miriam Urra, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code (8 absences in 2005 and 2 in 2006). 2. Albena Sumner, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code (3 absences in 2005 and 1 in 2006). • Vice Chairman Winton has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Laura Rodriguez 2. Yvonne Mc Donald • Commissioner Sanchez has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Raul Dominguez, whose term expired February 8, 2005 and who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code (10 absences in 2005 and 2 in 2006). 2. Sam Mason • Commissioner Regalado has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Aurelus Dorvil 2. Christino Alvarado • Commissioner Spence -Jones has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Charles Flowers 2. Vacant because Charles Cutler resigned. • The Commission At -Large has four (4) confirmations of: 1. Maria Bao as the representative of AFSCME Local 1907. 2. Viona Brown as the representative of the Fraternal Order or Police. 3. Louis Marshall III as the representative of the Miami Association of Fire Fighters. 4. Shad Fields as the representative of AFSCME Local 871. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the April 6, 2006. These matters were deferred from the November 3, 2005, December 15, 2005 and February 9, 2006 Commission meetings. PAT:pb c: Elsa I.
