Subject: Approve Draft RFP for Improvements at Melreese Golf Course, CPA, and Review Committee
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution approving the
Request For Proposals ("RFP") document for the development of a golf course, hotel and related
amenities at 1802 N.W. 37th Avenue, commonly referred to as the Melreese Golf Course, under the
Unified Development Project ("UDP") process; selecting a CPA firm to evaluate the proposals
received in response to said RFP; authorizing the City Manager to negotiate an amendment to the
agreement with said firm and to present the negotiated amendment to the City Commission for
approval; further appointing a review committee to evaluate proposals submitted in response to said
RFP.
Background Information:
Resolution No. 06-0007, adopted January 12, 2006, rejected the one proposal received in connection
with the RFP issued June 1, 2005 and re -determined that the most advantageous method to develop
improvements to the existing facilities is through the UDP process. The Department of Public
Facilities prepared the attached RFP for the subject UDP. The RFP contains detailed terms and
conditions about the project, the submittal and selection process for proposals, the requirements for
approvals from the voters (if required), and matters relating to future lease negotiations. A summary
of the RFP is attached. The content of the RFP is being considered at this duly advertised public
hearing, and, if approved, the RFP document will be issued as soon as possible.
