HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0211City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0211 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-00448 Final Action Date: 4/6/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY MANAGER APPROVING THE FINDINGS OF THE EVALUATION COMMITTEE, PURSUANT TO REQUEST FOR LETTERS OF INTEREST NO. 05-06-025, ISSUED JANUARY 18, 2006, THAT THE FIRMS MOST QUALIFIED TO PROVIDE REAL ESTATE AND FINANCIAL ADVISORY SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE POTENTIAL DISPOSITION OF THE JAMES L. KNIGHT CENTER COMPLEX IN RANK ORDER ARE: (1) STAUBACH COMPANY, NORTHEAST, INC. AND (2) CUSHMAN AND WAKEFIELD, INC.; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT WITH STAUBACH COMPANY, NORTHEAST, INC., THE TOP -RANKED FIRM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE SECOND -RANKED FIRM, IN THE EVENT NEGOTIATIONS FAIL WITH THE TOP - RANKED FIRM; DIRECTING THAT THE NEGOTIATED AGREEMENT BE PRESENTED TO THE CITY COMMISSION FOR CONSIDERATION. WHEREAS, on January 18, 2006, the City of Miami ("City") issued Request for Letters of Interest ("RFLI") No. 05-06-025, seeking a qualified firm with extensive real estate financial advisory background and experience to provide negotiation and financial advisory services to the City in connection with the potential sale of the James L. Knight Center complex ("Property") located in downtown Miami; and WHEREAS, the Property encompasses the City's Convention Center and the sites of the Hyatt Hotel and University of Miami Conference Center located at 400 Southeast 2 Avenue, Miami, Florida, the parking garage located at 100 Southeast 2 Street, Miami, Florida, and the walkway between the office tower and the Convention Center; and WHEREAS, two (2) proposals were received and evaluated by an Evaluation Committee; and WHEREAS, following oral presentations, the Evaluation Committee recommended that the City negotiate an agreement with the top -ranked firm, Staubach Company, Northeast Inc.; and WHEREAS, the Evaluation Committee agreed that in the event negotiations with the top -ranked firm fail, the City Manager could proceed to negotiate with the second -ranked firm, Cushman and Wakefield, Inc.; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager's recommendation to approve the findings of the Evaluation City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 06-00448 (Version: 11 Printed On: 1/6/2017 File Number: 06-00448 Enactment Number: R-06-0211 Committee, pursuant to RFLI No. 05-06-025, issued January 18, 2006, that the firms most qualified to provide real estate and financial advisory services in connection with the potential disposition of the Property in rank order are: (1) Staubach Company, Northeast, Inc. and (2) Cushman and Wakefield, Inc., is approved. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to negotiate an Agreement with Staubach Company, Northeast, Inc., the top -ranked firm. Section 4. The City is further authorized{1} to negotiate an Agreement with the second -ranked firm, in the event negotiations with the top -ranked firm fail. Section 5. The City Manager is directed to present the negotiated Agreement to the City Commission for consideration. Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} This Resolution shall become effective as specified herein unless vetoed by the Mayor within ten days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission or upon the effective date stated herein, whichever is later.
