B-30083, DATED OCTOBER, 2004, THE "NORTH GROVE TRAFFIC CALMING STUDY," PROJECT NO. B-30004, DATED MARCH, 2005, AND THE "EAST LITTLE HAVANA HOME DEPOT AREA TRAFFIC CALMING STUDY," PROJECT NO. B-30235, DATED OCTOBER, 2005, PREPARED BY MARLIN ENGINEERING, INC.; RECOMMENDING THAT THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS APPROVE THE FINDINGS, MEASURES AND LOCATIONS CONTAINED THEREIN; FURTHER DIRECTING THE DEPARTMENT OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AND TRANSPORTATION TO PREPARE A PLAN OF ACTION FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT(S) ONCE FUNDS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED. WHEREAS, at the request of the Coconut Grove and The East Little Havana Home Depot Neighborhoods ("Neighborhoods"), the Department of Capital Improvements and Transportation performed traffic calming studies for the Neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") secured the services of Marlin Engineering, Inc., ("Engineer") to collect existing traffic information, land use and transit data to address area -wide traffic conditions and public concerns about residential streets in the Neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the Engineer prepared the attached studies, entitled "Street Closure Study (Southwest 27th Lane and Southwest 28th Street East of Southwest 26th Avenue)," Project No. B-30083, dated October, 2004, the "North Grove Traffic Calming Study," Project No. B-30004, dated March, 2005, and the "East Little Havana Home Depot," Project No. B-30235, dated October, 2005 (collectively "The Traffic Calming Studies"); and WHEREAS, the Traffic Calming Studies identify critical intersections and roadway segments that warrant mitigation, and the prioritization and alternative analysis for mitigation measures; and WHEREAS, said Studies recommend traffic calming devices at specified locations; and WHEREAS, the Department of Capital Improvements and Transportation desires to implement the recommendations of said Studies and requires the approval of the Miami -Dade County Department of Public Works in order to do so; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. The Traffic Calming Studies prepared by the Engineer, are accepted. Section 3. The City Commission recommends that the Miami -Dade County Department of Public Works approve the findings, measures and locations contained in said Studies. Section 4. The Department of Capital Improvements and Transportation is directed to prepare a plan of action for the implementation of the project(s), once funds have been identified. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1}If the mayor does not sign this resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
