Subject: FIND Grant Application -- Sewell Park Kayak/Canoe Launch
Purpose of Item:
To adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit an application for grant
funding to the Florida Inland Navigation District ('FIND") Waterways Assistance Program, in an
amount not to exceed $30,000, for a kayak/canoe launch to be installed at Sewell Park. The item
includes language required by Rule 66B-2, Florida Administrative Code, for grant submittals to the
Waterways Assistance Program.
Background Information:
There has been an expressed public need for non -motorized recreational boating accessibility at Sewell Park.
The City is now ready to proceed with installation of a Kayak/Canoe launch at Sewell Park. I'he estimated
cost of the Project is $60,000 and the City will apply for funding in the amount of $30,000, to be matched by an
equal amount of City funds from the proceeds of impact fees to be established for Capital Improvements
Project No. B-30386 entitled "Sewell Park - Kayak/Canoe Launch Area".
