Subject: Establishing a Special Revenue Fund entitled "Special Taxing Districts Police Roving Patrol
Services" to accept monies from Miami Dade County for Special Taxing Districts within the City of
Miami for the Natoma Manors, Bay Heights, Fairhaven, Morningside , and Brickell Flagler
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution establishing a
Special Revenue Fund entitled: "Special Taxing Districts Police Roving Patrol Services",
appropriating said funds, in an amount not to exceed $600,000 for the police operations within the
Natoma Manors Security Guard Special Taxing District, Bay Heights Security Guard Special Taxing
District, Fairhaven Security Guard Taxing District, Morningside Security Guard Special Taxing
District, and Brickell Flagler Security Guard Special Taxing District; and authorizing the City of
Miami Department of Police, to accept payment for services provided on an off -duty basis, pursuant
to Interlocal Agreement by and between Miami Dade County, Florida and the City of Miami.
Background Information:
The Board of County Commissioners through Ordinance, authorized the County Manager to enter
into an Interlocal Agreement with the City for the provisions of police roving patrol services within
the Special Taxing Districts of: Bay Heights, Natoma Manors, Morningside, Fairhaven; and Brickell
Flagler. As per the Interlocal agreements, Miami Dade County pays the fixed off -duty hourly rate and
the applicable administrative fee for officers providing off -duty roving patrol security guard services
within the above listed Special Taxing Districts.
