HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miami.il.us File Number: 06-00269 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICTS POLICE ROVING PATROL SERVICES," CONSISTING OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENT FEES COLLECTED FROM WITHIN THE SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICTS AS STATED HEREIN, AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $600,000, FOR POLICE OPERATIONS WITHIN THE NATOMA MANORS SECURITY GUARD SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT, THE BAY HEIGHTS SECURITY GUARD SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT, THE FAIRHAVEN SECURITY GUARD SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT, THE MORNINGSIDE SECURITY GUARD SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT, AND THE BRICKELL FLAGLER SECURITY GUARD SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") DEPARTMENT OF POLICE TO ACCEPT PAYMENT FOR POLICE SERVICES PROVIDED ON AN OFF -DUTY BASIS PURSUANT TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY. WHEREAS, the Board of the Miami -Dade County ("County") Commission approved the creation of the Bay Heights Security Guard Special Taxing District on April 10, 1997, the Natoma Manors Security Guard Special Taxing District on April 27, 1999, the Morningside Security Guard Special Taxing District on February 27, 1997, the Fairhaven Security Guard Special Taxing District on March 24, 1998, and the Brickell Flagler Security Guard Special Taxing District on September 14, 1995; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners authorized the County Manager to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Miami ("City"), for the provision of police roving patrol services for said Taxing Districts; and WHEREAS, the City Department of Police is requesting a Special Revenue Fund for the assessment fees collected for the services of paid off -duty police officers, within said Taxing Districts; and WHEREAS, this Special Revenue Fund may be later expanded to include other Special Taxing Districts for the provision of police roving patrol services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 3/14/2006 Fie Number:: 06-00269 FUND TITLE: Special Taxing Districts Police Roving Patrol Services RESOURCES: Special Assessment Fees collected within Special Taxing Districts $600,000 APPROPRIATION: $600,000 Section 3. The. Department of Police is authorized to accept payment for police services provided on an off -duty basis, pursuant to the Interlocal Agreement between the City and the County. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JORGE L. FERNANDEZ CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes : {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
