Subject: FIND Grant Application -- Bicentennial Park Seawall, Phase Illa
Purpose of item:
To adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit an application for grant funding to the
Florida Inland Navigation District ("FIND") Waterways Assistance Program, in an amount not to exceed
$1,000,000, for Phase III a of the Bicentennial Park Shoreline Stabilization Project. The amendment includes
language required by Rule 66B-2, Florida Administrative Code, for grant submittals to the Waterways
Assistance Program.
Background Information:
The City has received grant awards from FIND for Phases I, II and III of the Bicentennial Park Shoreline
Stabilization Project in the amount of $700,000, $419,670, and $1,000,000 respectively. The City is now ready
to proceed with Phase IIIa - Connector of the project in order to finish restoration of the seawall at Bicentennial
Park along the Intracoastal Waterway. In addition to the stabilization and restoration of the seawall, Phase III
and IIIa will allow for tie-in with a public plaza and continuation of a pedestrian promenade. The estimated
cost of the Project is $4,400,000 and the City will apply for funding in the amount of $1,000,000, to be
matched by an equal amount of City funds from the proceeds of the second series Homeland
Defense/Neighborhood Improvement Bonds previously approved by voter referendum for Capital
Improvements Project No. 331418 entitled "Bicentennial Park Improvements".
