A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,000, FROM
THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM, FROM A GRANT
AWARDED BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, TO PROVIDE FOR
SERVICES AND TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE ATTENDANCE OF OUT OF
COUNTY CONFERENCES REQUIRED BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
EDUCATION, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY
LEARNING CENTER MIAMI LEARNING ZONE AT HOLMES ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT(S) TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID
GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in the amount of $7,000, from the
Florida Department of Education for the funding of the 21st Century Community Learning Center
Miami Learning Zone at Holmes Elementary School, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City is the identified director of said program; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Education requires key personnel from all grant funded
programs to attend two out of county conferences and one out of state conference per year; and
WHEREAS, the program director hired by the City will be required to attend the conferences;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and finding found in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to accept a grant award, in the amount of $7,000, from
the Miami -Dade County Public School System, from a grant awarded by the Florida Department of
Education, to provide for services and travel reimbursement for the attendance of out of county
conferences required by the Florida Department of Education, in conjunction with the 21st Century
Community Learning Center Miami Learning Zone at Holmes Elementary School, Miami, Florida.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary document(s) to implement
the acceptance of said grant award.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
