The total cost for the project is estimated at $930,500, with an amount not to exceed $465,250 requested from FIND and an amount not to exceed $465,250 in matching funds from the City. The completion of this project will allow for a safe and controlled environment where boaters can secure their vessels, ultimately resulting in fewer derelict vessels, dedicated safe accommodations for hurricanes, and greater access to upland amenities, such as pump out stations, restrooms, etc. FIND requires that entities requesting funds throu>7h the Waterways Assistance Proaram comblete the attached Resolution for Assistance. Background Information: Department of Public Facilities has established that constructing a dedicated, monitored mooring field at Dinner Key Marina is a high priority in the interest of boater safety and environmental concern. FIND requires the approval of all necessary permits (through Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers) prior to making a grant award. The application process for these permits can take many months, or even years. Consequently, in anticipation of this construction project, the Department of Public Facilities began the application process in 2004.
