of Item:
The Department of Public Facilities is seeking funds from the Florida Inland Navigation District
(FIND) Waterways Assistance Program for Phase II of the Dinner Key Anchorage Project for the

at $930,500, with an amount not to exceed $465,250 requested from FIND and an amount not to

derelict vessels, dedicated safe accommodations for hurricanes, and greater access to upland
amenities, such as pump out stations, restrooms, etc. FIND requires that entities requesting funds
throu>7h the Waterways Assistance Proaram comblete the attached Resolution for Assistance.
Background Information:
Department of Public Facilities has established that constructing a dedicated, monitored mooring field
at Dinner Key Marina is a high priority in the interest of boater safety and environmental concern.
FIND requires the approval of all necessary permits (through Florida Department of Environmental
Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers) prior to making a grant award. The application process
for these permits can take many months, or even years. Consequently, in anticipation of this
construction project, the Department of Public Facilities began the application process in 2004. The
approval of the permits is now imminent, and the Department is able to apply for FIND grant funds.
