A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MAINTENANCE
AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH PRINTRAK, A
MOTOROLA COMPANY, FOR THE AUTOMATED FINGERPRINT
IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM AND OMNITRAK SYSTEMS, FOR THE DEPARTMENT
OF POLICE, FOR A TWO-YEAR PERIOD, COMMENCING MARCH 1, 2006
THROUGH FEBRUARY 28, 2008, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $32,638,
FOR THE FIRST -YEAR PERIOD AND AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $35,299,
FOR THE SECOND -YEAR PERIOD, FOR A TOTAL CONTRACT AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $67,937; ALLOCATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$67,937, FROM THE POLICE GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT CODE
NO. 001000.290201.6. 670.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 96-627, adopted September 12, 1996, the Department of
Police purchased the Automated Fingerprint Identification System ("AFIS") from Printrak, a Motorola
Company ("Printrak"), under a sole source designation; and
WHEREAS, AFIS stores fingerprints in a computer readable format which allows for rapid
identification; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Police desires to continue receiving maintenance and support
services from Printrak for the AFIS/Omnitrak system; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Resolution will authorize maintenance and support services for a
two-year period beginning March 1, 2006 through February 28, 2008, with future years funding subject
to budgetary approval; and
WHEREAS, the Maintenance Agreement ("Agreement") will ensure continued on -site maintenance
and support services for the first year in the amount of $32,638 and second_year funding in the amount
of $35,299 for a total contract amount of $67,937; and
WHEREAS, any Agreement would have to comply with applicable Code of the City of Miami,
Florida, as amended, legal requirements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized(1) to execute an Agreement, in substantially the
attached form, with Printrak, for the AFIS and Omnitrak Systems, for the Department of Police, for a
two-year period, commencing March 1, 2006 through February 28, 2008, in an amount not to exceed

$32,638, for the first -year period and an amount not to exceed $35,299, for the second -year period, for
a total contract amount not to exceed $67,937, with funds, in the amount not to exceed $67,937,
allocated from the Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.670.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
