A Resolution amending Resolution No. 05-0660, adopted November 17, 2005, authorizing the purchase of two
(2) 2006/25' Contender Vessels, with twin Yamaha Engines, trailer and other accessories, from Contender
Boats, Inc., in the amount of $179,311.02, for the Department of Police, as authorized under the Memorandum
of Understanding between the City of Miami, and the State of Florida Counter -Drug Procurement Program,
established and maintained pursuant to National Defense Authorization Act Section 1122, known as the "1122
Program", to reflect the purchase of two (2) additional 2006, 25' Contender vessels with twin Yamaha engines,
trailers and other accessories, allocating additional funds from the Capital Improvement Program, Project Code
No. 312025, in the amount of $179,311.02, for a total cost of $358,622.04 for four (4) vessels.
Background Information:
These additional vessels will be utilized by the Police Department's Marine Patrol Detail to patrol the Miami
River and other City waterways and waterfronts to enhance the department's Homeland Security Initiative and
for counter drug activities. They will also be used with both the Organized Crime and Terrorism Section and
various federal and local agencies to interdict drug traffickers.
