Subject: Resolution amending Resolution 05-0459 for the City of Miami Streetcar Project
Purpose of Item:
To adopt the attached resolution, amending Resolution 05-0459 which was adopted on July 28, 2005,
to correct the amount of funds being contributed from the Florida Department of Transportation
("State"), from $2,790,000 to $3,700,000, through a Joint Participation Agreement ("JPA") with the
State for the Miami Streetcar Project, B-71215.
Background Information:
Pursuant to R-05-0459, adopted July 28, 2005, the City Commission approved the execution of a JPA
with the State for the City of Miami Streetcar Project for Alternatives Analysis, Environmental
Documentation, Preliminary Engineering and Program/Project Management Services associated with
the Initial Implementation of the "City of Miami Initial Streetcar Corridor Feasibility Study." Said
resolution approved a contribution from FDOT in an amount not to exceed $2,790,000. However, it
is necessary to amend this amount to the correct amount of $3,700,000, which is $910,000 more than
the amount previously approved by R-05-0459.
The Study defines the Miami Streetcar Project as a modern electric streetcar transit service, on rail
and at grade, within the existing roadway along a 6.75 mile round trip loop between Downtown
Miami and the Miami Design District that will be an urban circulator linking the redeveloping
neighborhoods with Metrorail and Metromover and other connections in future phases of the Project.
