SUBJECT: Resolution 05-063, Ratify Emergency repair to the north and south end
docks
DATE: November 4, 2005
At the September 27, 2005, board meeting the Trust directed the executive director to
take whatever steps necessary to repair the north end dock. Consequently, staff requested
bids using proper City of Miami procurement procedures. As a result of Hurricane
Wilma (10/24/05), the concern to repair the north end dock was heightened to ensure the
public health and safety. Management has deemed this repair an emergency and is
respectfully requesting the Trust to ratify the repair expense in an amount not to exceed
$60,000.00 payable to Marin and Marin Construction, Inc. Funds are allocated in the
2005-06 Capital Improvement Budget; Park Design Upgrades and Rehabilitation. Staff
will also submit this expense for ratification by the City Miami Commission.
Staff will seek reimbursement for all Hurricane Wilma related expenses from FEMA,
Insurance and other sources.
