HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0113City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0113 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-00231 Final Action Date: 2/23/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 04-0014, ADOPTED JANUARY 8, 2004, THAT AUTHORIZED THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT ("PSA") BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY METROPOLITAN CENTER ("FIU"), FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, BY CLARIFYING THE ORIGINAL TERM OF THE PSA WITH FIU, TO A TWO-YEAR PERIOD, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR ONE (1) ADDITIONAL FOUR-YEAR PERIOD, IN THE ANNUAL AMOUNT OF $165,800, WITH ANNUAL INCREASES NOT TO EXCEED 5% ; AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FROM THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED "POVERTY INITIATIVE" TO SUPPORT ANNUALLY THE CITYWIDE EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT CAMPAIGN AND THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, TO BE DISBURSED UNDER THE SECOND PHASE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S POVERTY INITIATIVE CALLED "ACCESS MIAMI." BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Resolution No. 04-0014, adopted January 8, 2004, that authorized the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement between the City of Miami and Florida International University Metropolitan Center, for the Department of Community Development, is amended in the following particulars:{1} "Resolution No. 04-0014 Section 2. The allocation of funds, in a total amount not to exceed $194,400, from the "Special Revenue Fund entitled "Poverty Initiative" is authorized to underwrite the 20041 support annually the Citywide Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign Plan ("Plan") for 2004, and the Department of Community Development, to be disbursed under the second phase of the City's poverty initiative called "Access Miami," with funds allocated, in an amount not to exceed $28,600, to Extended Stay America to cover cost for accommodations and matching grant funds related to the commitment of 22 United States Americorps Volunteers, and the allocation of allocating funds, in an the annual amount not to exceed $165,800, for a two-year period, with the option to renew for one (1) additional four-year period, with annual increases not to exceed 5%, to Florida International University's Metropolitan Center to implement the plan, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute a Professional Services Agreement, in substantially the attached form, with Florida International University's Metropolitan Center for a one year period for said purpose. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} Words/and or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The remaining provisions are now in effect in remain unchanged. Asterisks indicate omitted and unchanged material. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
