As you advised, we thought that Brickell Plaza was the proper name, in accordance with the current signage. BHA has no objection to the formalization (or legalization) of the proposed name change. So, let us officially have "Brickell Plaza." Happy Holidays! Yesterday during the Commission meeting, I presented an item that would rename (not co -designate) SE 1st Avenue from SE 8th to SE 12th Street to Brickell Plaza. The item was continued by Commissioner Winton. The Commissioner asked me to make sure that the Brickell Homeowner's Association did not have any objections to this renaming since it contained the name 'Brickell". The request was made by Lucia Dougherty on behalf of Paradise International Development. Their position is that the street is currently a beautiful primary pedestrian pathway and thus should be named as a plaza. I can tell you that this roadway has commonly been unofficially called Brickell Plaza and that the usage is so dominant that many official City maps, including the Zoning Atlas, identify the roadway as "Brickell Plaza". Please advise if the Association has any objections. This item was continued to the January 12 Commission meeting so I am in need of a response before then. Thanks for your attention. Stephanie N.
