Thompson City Clerk Date: January 13, 2006 Subject: Overtown Advisory Board References: February 9, 2006 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Overtown Advisory Board was created to encourage and support historic preservation and provide recommendations to the City Commission regarding all City funded or assisted activities, developments, or improvements within the Overtown area. • Commissioner Michelle Spence -Jones has one nomination for vacancy created because Charles Cutler resigned. • The Mayor has one nomination for seat currently held by D. Steven Porter, whose term expired on November 18, 2004. Pursuant to City Code Section 2-1052(d)(2), The City Commissioner representing the Overtown area and the Mayor shall appoint one member. Appointed members require a newspaper ad at least 30 days prior to appointment and short qualification statement from persons interested in being appointed as members. The remaining eleven members are elected. The deadline for submission of applications was January 6, 2006. Three applications have been received from: • Melissa J. Sturgis • Carla R. Penn • G. Leroy Lloyd For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the February 9, 2006 Commission Agenda.
