A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "2005 DOLLAR WISE CAPACITY GRANTS
PROGRAM," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR ITS OPERATION, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $20,000, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD RECEIVED FROM
THE UNITED STATES CONFERENCE OF MAYORS, TO EXPAND THE
FINANCIAL LITERACY EDUCATION CAMPAIGN SPEARHEADED THROUGH
THE ACCESS MIAMI INITIATIVE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT(S) TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF
SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Office of the Mayor has requested funding from the United
States Conference of Mayors to expand the City's financial literacy education campaign; and
WHEREAS, this expansion will focus on financial education for families within the City through the
Miami -Dade County Public Schools/The Parent Academy, and the Human Services Coalition; and
WHEREAS, the City was awarded a grant in the amount of $20,000, pursuant to said request; and
WHEREAS, the City must execute an award package, including a Grant Award Agreement, to
accept the grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA;
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated
as described herein:
FUND TITLE: 2005 Dollar Wife Capacity Grants Program
RESOURCES: The United States Conference of Mayors $20,000
APPROPRIATION: Expanding Financial Literacy Education Campaign spearheaded $20,000
through The Access Miami Initiative
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary document(s) to implement
acceptance of said grant award.
Section 4, This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
