HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-06-0067City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-06-0067 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-00153 Final Action Date: 1/26/2006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO CREATE A TASK FORCE CO-CHAIRED BY A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT TEAM AND THE DEPARTMENT OF CODE ENFORCEMENT, CONSISTING OF FIVE TO SEVEN MEMBERS TO ADDRESS THE CONCERNS OF THE RESIDENTS AND BUSINESS OWNERS REGARDING CRIME, ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS AND SAFETY IN THE LITTLE HAITI PARK AND WAREHOUSE DISTRICT, TO BE PRINCIPALLY CONCERNED WITH THE AREAS BOUNDED BY NORTHEAST 62ND AND 72ND STREETS FROM NORTHEAST 2ND AVENUE TO NORTHEAST 5TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA; DIRECTING THE TASK FORCE TO CONDUCT ITS STUDY AS STATED HEREIN AND TO PRESENT A REPORT TO THE CITY COMMISSION WITHIN 120 DAYS WITH RECOMMENDATIONS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is directed to create a task force co-chaired by a representative from the Neighborhood Enhancement Team and the Department of Code Enforcement, consisting of five to seven members to address the concerns of the residents and business owners regarding crime, roadway improvements and safety in the Little Haiti Park and Warehouse District, principally concerned with the areas bounded by Northeast 62nd and 72nd Streets from Northeast 2nd Avenue to Northeast 5th Avenue, Miami, Florida. Section 2. The task force should be expansive in its approach and consider all methods to achieve its goals including controlling access to the area by limiting or prohibiting vehicular traffic. Section 3. The task force is directed to solicit input from the following departments: Police, Public Works, Solid Waste and any other department deemed necessary. Section 4. The task force is directed to present a report to the City Commission within 120 days with recommendations to address said issues. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
