HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislation"' • City of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miami.fl.us File Number: 05-01519 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE COCONUT GROVE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 2-1251 AND 35-221 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, REQUESTING THAT MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND ANY OTHER APPLICABLE GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY REMOVE THE NO -LEFT TURN SIGN PROHIBITING A LEFT TURN FROM COMMODORE PLAZA ONTO GRANT AVENUE IN COCONUT GROVE; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING TO EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has expended considerable funds, time and efforts to improve and reconstruct the Grand Avenue business corridor in Coconut Grove; and WHEREAS, a no -left -turn sign has recently been posted prohibiting a left turn from Commodore Plaza directly into the Grand Avenue business corridor and as a result traffic now must detour through a schoolzone and a residential neighborhood in order to access Grand Avenue from Commodore Plaza; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 2-1251 and 35-221 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), the Coconut Grove Business Improvement Committee on December 20, 2005, voted to recommend to the Miami City Commission to request that Miami -Dade County and any other applicable governmental entity remove the no -left -turn sign so that Coconut Grove traffic can once again proceed from Commodore Plaza onto Grand Avenue; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The recommendation of the Coconut Grove Business Improvement Committee pursuant to Sections 2-1251 and 35-221 of the City Code to request Mlami-Dade County and any other applicable governmental entity to remove the no -left -turn sign prohibiting a left turn from Commodore Plaza onto Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove, is accepted. Section 3. The City Manager and the Department of Off -Street Parking are authorized and directed to execute any necessary documents for said purpose. Section 4.
