A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
CONTINUED FUNDING OF PROTRACTED COMPLEX INVESTIGATIONS, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $100,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE LAW
ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NUMBERS 690001, 690002 AND
690003, WITH SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF
OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF
JUSTICE AND TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING," AND FLORIDA
STATUTES, SECTION 932.7055, AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, the United States ("U.S.") Department of Justice and Treasury's "Guide to Equitable
Sharing," and Florida Statutes, Section 932.7055, as amended, authorize the expenditures of
forfeited cash or proceeds from forfeited property for certain law enforcement purposes; and
WHEREAS, the need exists within the Department of Police to conduct protracted and/or complex
investigations which often require additional monies for such costs as the purchase/rental of
equipment and supplies, payment of confidential informants, buy monies, and other investigative
support expenses; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the community and the City of Miami to continue to fund
these expenditures through monies generated as a result of seizures authorized under the U.S.
Departments of Justice and Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing," and the Florida Contraband
Forfeiture Act; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditures are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund,
Project Numbers 690001, 690002 and 690003, with such expenditures having been certified by the
Chief of Police as complying with the U.S. Departments of Justice and Treasury's "Guide to Equitable
Sharing," and Florida Statutes, Section 932.7055, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The continued financing of Protracted Complex Investigations, in an amount not to
exceed $100,000, is authorized, with funds allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project
Numbers 690001, 690002 and 690003, with such expenditures having been approved by the Chief of
Police as complying with the U.S. Department of Justice and Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing,"
and Florida Statutes, Section 932.7055, as amended.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
